Cookie Notice
ONbackup, operated by Onnen Solutions Ltd (trading as "Onnen")
Last updated: 30 July 2026 · Effective date: 30 July 2026
In short: this website uses strictly necessary cookies to work, and Google Analytics only if you accept it. Analytics is off until you choose "Accept", and you can change your mind at any time. We do not use advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
1. About this notice
This Cookie Notice explains how cookies and similar technologies are used on the ONbackup website at onbackup.co.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
This notice covers our public website. The ONbackup application itself, which customers sign in to at their own instance address, is a separate authenticated service and uses strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to site owners. Similar technologies, such as local storage, store small amounts of data in your browser in much the same way.
3. Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the website to function and, under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), do not require your consent.
| Purpose | What it does |
|---|---|
| Cookie consent preference | When you accept or reject analytics in our consent banner, we record that choice in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again on every page. This is not a cookie, is not sent to our servers, and contains no personal data. Clearing your browser storage resets the choice and the banner will appear again. |
| Security and availability | Cloudflare, our hosting and security provider, may set strictly necessary cookies to protect the website against malicious traffic and to deliver it reliably. |
4. Analytics cookies — only with your consent
To understand how our website is used and improve it, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google. Analytics is off by default: Google Analytics is only loaded, and its cookies are only set, after you choose "Accept" in our consent banner. If you choose "Reject", or ignore the banner, Google Analytics is never loaded and none of these cookies are set.
| Cookie | Purpose | Typical expiry |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics — distinguishes visitors to measure site usage. | Up to 2 years |
_ga_<id> | Google Analytics — maintains session state. | Up to 2 years |
These cookies help us count visits and see which pages are useful; they do not tell us who you are. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store your IP address. The data is processed by Google as our processor and is governed by Google's privacy policy. We do not use it for advertising and we do not combine it with any other data to identify you.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time: . Choosing "Reject" stops any further analytics; to remove analytics cookies already set, clear them in your browser.
5. Cookies we do not use
On this website we do not use:
- advertising, retargeting or profiling cookies;
- social media tracking pixels; or
- any cookie that tracks you across other websites.
6. Third-party cookies for embedded video
Our Guides page includes videos hosted on YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube when you visit the page, only a static thumbnail image hosted on our own site. If you click a video to play it, an embedded player loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com), which may then set its own cookies to operate playback. These cookies are controlled by YouTube (Google), not by us, and are governed by Google's privacy policy.
No YouTube cookies are set unless you click to play a video.
7. Third-party cookies at checkout
Our pricing page's Buy buttons redirect to a secure checkout hosted by Stripe (Stripe Payments UK Ltd and its affiliates), our payment processor. When that checkout loads, Stripe may set its own strictly necessary cookies on Stripe's own domain to operate and protect the payment process. These cookies are controlled by Stripe, not by us, and are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
No Stripe cookies are set unless you visit the pricing page and proceed to checkout.
8. Managing your consent and cookies
You can change or withdraw your analytics consent at any time using , or by clearing your browser's local storage to reset the banner.
You can also control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view what is stored, delete it, and block cookies entirely or by site. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the website from working properly.
9. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time, for example if we introduce new functionality that relies on cookies. The "Last updated" date above shows when it was last revised. If we introduce new non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent first.
