1. About this notice
This Cookie Notice explains how cookies and similar technologies are used on the OnBackup website at onbackup.co.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
This notice covers our public website. The OnBackup application itself, which customers sign in to at their own instance address, is a separate authenticated service and uses strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to site owners. Similar technologies, such as local storage, store small amounts of data in your browser in much the same way.
3. Cookies we use on this website
We use strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies only. These are required for the website to function and, under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), do not require your consent.

4. Cookies we do not use
We want to be specific about this, because many websites say the opposite. On this website we do not use:

- advertising, retargeting or profiling cookies;
- social media tracking pixels; or
- any cookie that tracks you across other websites.
Because we set no non-essential cookies, there is nothing for you to opt into or out of on this website. If that changes, we will update this notice and introduce a consent mechanism before any such cookie is set.
5. Third-party cookies at checkout
Our pricing page's Buy buttons redirect to a secure checkout hosted by Stripe (Stripe Payments UK Ltd and its affiliates), our payment processor. When that checkout loads, Stripe may set its own strictly necessary cookies on Stripe's own domain to operate and protect the payment process. These cookies are controlled by Stripe, not by us, and are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
No Stripe cookies are set unless you visit the pricing page and proceed to checkout.
6. How to control cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view what is stored, delete it, and block cookies entirely or by site. Help pages for the common browsers are available from their respective providers.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the website from working properly. Because we set no non-essential cookies, blocking them will not affect any tracking — there is none to block.
You can also clear your browser's local storage to reset your cookie notice preference.
7. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time, for example if we introduce new functionality that relies on cookies. The "Last updated" date above shows when it was last revised. If we ever begin using non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent first.
